Sustainability

What if everything was sustainable?

We are passionate about fashion, but we are aware that the way the fashion industry currently works is greatly damaging the planet, its ecosystems and the people who live there. For this reason, we endeavour to use environmentally friendly process which protect those involved in the production process to create our garments, and we are constantly searching for innovative and sustainable alternatives.

Sustainability goes way beyond a label or slogan, so at Suite13 LAB, we are transparent, hand-picking our suppliers, materials, and manufacturing methods. In addition, we work hand in hand with people employed in workshops around the world to ensure that all companies and people involved in the process respect our values and principles from the design stage to the point of sale.

Our mission is to be part of the change and to act so this change is no longer something from another planet. But this is not enough for us. We want to go further! We don’t want sustainability to be something in fashion for just one season – we want it to be part of our daily lives forever, something that we consider with every choice we make. Imagine a world where everyone acts like us? We are heading towards that world, and we want you to be part of it.

Certificates

We guarantee that Suite13 LAB uses environmentally friendly raw materials that protect the integrity of those involved in the creation process, because we know everything about them: where they come from, how they have been cultivated, how they are obtained, how they have been distributed and the impact they have on our environment.

The certificates attached to our garments will show you that you have chosen to wear something that has been created with the good of the planet and of people in mind.

As that’s as it should be, right?

GOTS GLOBAL ORGANIC TEXTILE STANDARD

This certificate guarantees that the garment has been made following environmentally friendly processes at each stage, right back to the moment when the raw material is harvested. It also guarantees that the people involved in the process have been treated with dignity and without discrimination.

GLOBAL RECYCLED
STANDARD

This is responsible for establishing the necessary requirements to certify recycled materials, and verifies the social, environmental, and chemical processes used in production. The idea behind this is to give materials a second (and a third and a fourth etc,) life, to reduce the demand for natural resources.

RESPONSIBLE WOOL STANDARD

The wool we use carries this certification which guarantees the welfare of the sheep and the good conditions of the land where they graze. In addition, it provides us with tools to teach us how the livestock farmers work, and checks that the wool is coming from farms that respect the animals’ welfare.

TENCEL

Lyocell fibre is extracted from the wood pulp of sustainably farmed trees and is not only eco-responsible, but can also be reused again and again, reducing waste. As if that weren’t enough, the fabric is breathable, soft on the skin and extremely comfortable.

CUPRO

We use Cupro from Bemberg by Asahi Kasei in many of our models. This is a regenerated cellulose fibre that is obtained during the manufacturing of cottonseed oil process. This fibre is pleasant to the touch, adapts to every season of the year and is also biodegradable and compostable. A new solution for new times.

ECOVERO

This responsible viscose, which comes from wood and sustainable cellulose, meets environmental standards throughout the process: from the extraction of the raw material to production, distribution, and waste disposal. Did you know that manufacturing this fibre generated 50% fewer emissions and has less impact on water resources compared to standard viscose?.

Other actions

What if sustainability was a way of life?

As every decision that we take has an impact on the environment, every aspect of our daily lives is well thought out. Everything connected with our world, both things we can see and those that we don’t, respects the environment: the furniture in our shop and office, the water we drink, the energy we use, down to packing tape we use to ship your orders.

We are aware that there’s still a long way to go, so we continually review our practices and look for new solutions. There’s no rush, but we don’t stand still. Every day we add more bricks to the foundations of our sustainable project, with energy, self-belief, and a healthy dose of optimism.

Rajapack

Our garments are shipped to customers all over the world, so we are determined that our online trading will generate minimum impact. That’s why we have chosen Rajapack paper seals, which are environmentally friendly and recyclable.

Rovi Packaging

To make sure your garment arrives in good condition, yet without harming the planet or its oceans, we use Rovi bags, made with more than 70% recycled plastic.

Lufe furniture

When it comes to choosing office and store furniture, we opt for Lufe furniture. This brand not only protects forests, but also works to maintain biodiversity and supports rural communities who make a living from the timber industry.

Tres Glops water

Three Glops is a special centre that takes care of people and our island. This project offers job opportunities to disabled people and supplies water while generating the absolute minimum amount of plastic waste, since their bottles are made of PET, and are Bisphenol-A free and reusable.

Holaluz

In our store, we use green energy certified by the National Energy Commission. We like the fact that Holaluz is committed to energy exchange, so those who produce more energy than they need can offer the excess to others, who may need it.

U Energy

We power our office using renewable energy, which does not generate CO2 emissions. This Majorca-based company allows us to issue paper-free invoices and advises us on the power we use and on how to consume less. This way, we boost our performance but without wasting energy.
